The Cardano Foundation prides itself on its technology integration initiatives that advance the development of solutions for businesses and systems of all kinds. This collaboration will develop an innovative, cost-effective and flexible certification and traceability system, which will provide transparency and authenticity to wineries and customers from the point of harvest to the point of consumption.
The four partners will work together to create a flexible and open path and trace solution to cement Georgia’s position as a major wine producer internationally, according to the announcement.
Cardano to ensure the quality of wine
The Cardano Foundation will oversee the collaboration, which will help individual wineries by creating a scalable common platform that is cost-effective for winemakers and enhances customer engagement. The prototype program serving the local and export markets will also be expanded in the city of Polynesia. It will contain up to 100,000 bottles of wine harvested in the fall of 2022 and bottled in the spring of 2023.
The bottles will have a unique and secure QR code label. This will allow customers to check the authenticity of the products and learn more about their history. In addition, the National Wine Agency will leverage the Cardano blockchain to create open, verifiable records of wine certification data on wines targeting export markets.
