Francis Suarez still believes that Bitcoin is the future

Bitcoin is the world’s number one digital currency by market capitalization. Last November, the coin impressed the world and soared to $68,000 per unit, although the asset is now struggling to maintain a low position of $20,000. The coin lost more than 70 percent of its total value in what was arguably one of the worst periods for the coin in its 13-year history.

But Suarez was not affected. In fact, he continues to publicly promote the asset and says that he would like to be part of a new initiative through his role as mayor to advance crypto education and adoption. In a recent interview, Suarez commented:

Educating policy makers on how to make use of this technology will be pivotal in making it more ubiquitous in our lives. American citizens need to feel confident in their leaders’ ability to understand this highly transformative technology.

Not so long ago, Suarez virtually appeared at the World Digital Mining Summit. Although he could not appear in person due to a scheduling conflict, he posted a video of himself welcoming all the attendees, many of whom came from different parts of the world to celebrate the growing crypto mining sector and the power that came with mining. The event was organized by Bitmain, the manufacturer of crypto mining hardware.

Suarez said in the video:

Digital currency provides the potential for all of us to create a generation of prosperity for our children and their children. As other cities and countries attack cryptocurrency, mining, and new Web 3 technology, Miami has chosen to embrace this technology, welcoming its engineers and pioneers, and championing the digital revolution for all who seek a free, just and prosperous future.

Another speaker at the event is Mike Levitt, CEO of publicly traded crypto-mining company Core Scientific. During a speech, he said that he believes that the current bear market will lead to many positive changes in the industry. He also believes that there will be several new opportunities for profit in the coming months. He said:

We are building a business model that we believe will last for the long term. Let’s face it: We all think this is a very long-term business. I just got some short term swings.

Miami coin fell

Suarez also discussed the failure of Miami Coin, claiming:

Like I said, innovation doesn’t always work out, and unfortunately Miami Coin isn’t as promising as it initially seemed, but I feel proud that we turned the money we earned into instant cash. Rental relief for Miami residents.
