The massive reliance on the platform’s original cryptocurrency, ETH, has led to the creation of the popular “Vitalik” name in the crypto world. Currently, Ethereum (ETH) is the most prominent and leading currency in the market after Bitcoin (BTC).
Vitalik Buterin is generally known as the co-founder of Ethereum. But there are many interesting facts about the young billionaire that may be unknown to most people.
Get to know the man behind Ethereum
Vitalik was born in Russia in January 1994. When he was six years old, his parents left Russia and immigrated to Canada in search of better job opportunities. During his school days, he developed an interest in mathematics, programming, and economics. Vitalik immediately realized that his unique abilities and skills made him somewhat of an outcast among his friends and even teachers while on the program.
At the age of 17, Buterin learned about Bitcoin from his father, and it was a turning point in his life. His obsession with Bitcoin and the purpose of earning BTC forced him to attend several crypto projects. Buterin began writing for a publication called “Bitcoin Weekly” in 2011, to earn the coin. In the same year, he co-founded the magazine called “Bitcoin Magazine”, which began printing in 2012.
The concept of Ethereum was born after meeting some Bitcoin developers on its travels and learning about the currency’s many limitations. Before the project was launched, an introductory paper was published by Buterin in 2013. He wrote a white paper on Ethereum, at the age of nineteen.
Vitalik got the name ethereum from the word “ether.” After browsing Wikipedia, T scientists believed that ether was a transparent, weightless, frictionless substance that was chemically or physically undetectable, pervasive in all matter and space.
Ethereum is currently working on a new upgrade called Ethereum 2.0 to increase transactions per second.
